CHiMaD Undergraduate Design Team places 3rd
in the ASM International 2014 Undergraduate Design Competition

ChiMaD undergraduate Design Team, advised by CHiMaD co-director Greg Olson and Northwestern University graduate student Dana Frankel, has placed 3rd in the ASM International 2014 Undergraduate Design Competition with their work on the "Design of a Fatigue-Resistant Shape Memory Alloy for Artificial Heart Valve Frames". This study was conducted as part of the Materials Design course offered by Professor Olson in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern university where students learn the basics of available computational design tools and databases as well as get hands-on experience.
